Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese (MC/LC FeMn)
Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese (MC/LC FeMn) is an important ferroalloy with lower carbon content and controlled impurities, widely used in high-quality steelmaking and foundry applications. Available in grades such as FeMn75C2.0, FeMn78C2.0, FeMn78C1.5, and Low Carbon Ferromanganese grades, it helps improve steel strength, toughness, wear resistance, and casting performance. With controlled silicon and phosphorus content, it is suitable for alloy steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron production.
Introduction
Product Overview
Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese (MC/LC FeMn) is an important ferroalloy mainly composed of manganese and iron. It is produced through refining processes to reduce carbon content and achieve better control of impurities.
Compared with High Carbon Ferromanganese, Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese has lower carbon content and improved impurity control, helping reduce the influence of carbon addition. It is widely used in applications requiring higher steel quality and casting performance.
Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese is commonly applied in steelmaking, alloy steel, stainless steel, and ductile iron production as an important alloying material for improving material properties.
Tiegu delivers high-quality, standards-compliant ferroalloys to international buyers, ensuring reliable supply and consistent quality across the production chain.
Appearance Characteristics
Medium Carbon Ferromanganese usually has a darker appearance compared with Low Carbon Ferromanganese, with a better-developed flake-like structure. Low Carbon Ferromanganese has a brighter surface appearance, and its crystal structure is relatively sharper compared with Medium Carbon Ferromanganese.
A common characteristic of both materials is that sparks may be generated when the pieces are struck against each other.

Main Applications
Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese is mainly used in steelmaking and foundry industries.
In the steelmaking industry, Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese is an important deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and alloying additive. Since manganese has a strong affinity with oxygen, it can form stable manganese oxide and effectively reduce harmful elements in steel, improving steel quality. As an alloying element, manganese also enhances the strength, ductility, toughness, and wear resistance of steel.
In the foundry industry, Medium & Low Carbon Ferromanganese is added to cast iron to improve its chemical composition, microstructure, and performance. It is an important auxiliary material in ductile iron production, helping reduce carbide formation, promote graphite precipitation, shorten nodularization treatment time, and improve the quality and mechanical properties of cast iron.
